All
referees are recruited, trained and operate
under the direct control of the FAI. Referees
are in short supply and we urge everybody
to respect referees and to accept their decisions.
Beginners courses are run by the FAI
The next beginners referee course will be held over two Saturdays, 29th September and 6th October 2007.

It is vitally important that new referees are given the time, encouragement and patience to get to grips with their new role and we would strongly urge everybody connected with clubs/teams to take the long term view and refrain from abusing our referees.

Referee of the Year
At the SDFL Christmas function on Monday night, Paula Brady (Pictured below), was presented with the award of “Referee of the Year”. Paula is making rapid progress in this area of the game, & the league are delighted to have her officiating as part of their team of Referees.
All of the Referees were presented with their Cup Final medals from this years finals, and SDFL Chairman Mr Rory Walsh paid tribute to this band of unsung hero’s. He said that he was aware of the many difficulties faced by the Ref’s, but that while there was little he could do about the Climatic conditions, the League were taking steps to try to eradicate the other problems which they faced.
As well as the players, managers, coaches and administrators, the other essential members of any League are the Referees, and no game can go ahead without them.
The SDFL urge all people involved in the game, to get behind the men in black. |
